Front End

The Pivoting front carriage needs some attention.

Here are the bushings from the front that are held by (2) 1/2" bolts just below the Engine PTO:

The Sizes are:

• Front Bushing Set :
• Outer - 1.25" OD x 1.0" ID x 5/8
• Inner -  1.0" OD x 0.5" ID x 1.0"
• Rear Bushing Set :
• Outer - 1.25" OD x 1.0" ID x 5/8
• Inner -  1.0" OD x 0.5" ID x 0.77"

The Large washer acts as a thrust bearing to keep assembly pulled to the rear of the mower.

Here are the parts I will use to rebuild the front carriage sot that it is grease-able. 

I had a a friend machine the bearing width down to match the old outer bushings.

I drilled and tapped (2) 3/4" G8 NF bolts to add grease fittings.

Here is the end result.  Locktite on ny-lock nut just for good measure.

I also modified the front wheels and axles to make for better bearing tightening and better seals.

Here is the OLD and the NEW design, replacing shaft collar with threads and castle nut and the flat seal with actual axle seals that will ride on the shaft collar.

Also bought a shiny new grease cap.

Waiting on the correct size seal because I ordered the wrong ones from NAPA.

( Correct seal is 1"X1.78" #NOS 10034 )

Completed seal and axle nut upgrade
